Ed Bosher
Chief Technology Officer – MetaWinWhat’s your name, your role, and when did you join the company?
Ed Bosher, CTO, November 2024
How did you get started in this industry?
In 2013 I was co-founder of Cloudbet, one of the first crypto sports betting sites in the world.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Solving problems, now it’s more about people and organizations but I also still love getting my hands dirty on the engineering side.
What’s the most interesting part of your day-to-day work?
Hearing about problems people are having across the departments. I really enjoy trying to connect technologies in a simple way to improve things. This often involves avoiding creating more software where I can!
How does your role contribute to the company’s overall goals?
My job is to spot problems across the engineering organization. I’ve done my job once I can help unblock people and get out of the way. When I’ve got nothing to do and the teams are delivering great results, I’ll have contributed as much as I can which to be honest might not ever happen.
What challenges in your role do you find the most rewarding?
Delegating is a tough skill to master. When you give the right team the right tools and they do great things, it’s very rewarding.
What motivates you to do your best work every day?
I like helping people out. Working at a startup means there’s lots of people that need a bit of support so they can do their best work. If I can get my main chunk of work done I occasionally reward myself with a little time to teach myself something new or to tinker with things myself.
How have you grown—both personally and professionally—since you started with us?
Arena Entertainment is an environment where you’re expected to get on with things and make decisions fast. It’s important to know when you’ve considered options enough and it’s time to just get on with things. I think in other roles there was an expectation to definitely over analyze a lot of decisions, I’ve been seeing here that we’ve been making decisions faster and the train isn’t flying off the tracks.
How do you see your role developing as the company grows?
The company is going through rapid growth. If I can keep up with it I’ll soon be managing many departments with many teams working across many different product domains. That’s exciting enough.
If you had to describe your job in one word, what would it be?
Support
What advice would you give to someone considering Arena Entertainment ?
The days go really fast at AE, so prioritising is a core skill you’ll need.
